Agricultural Metering Program
How to Read Your Meter
Although SEKID will provide several
water use reports to each property over the course of the irrigation
season,
the best way to track your water use is to read your meter.
The Irrigation meter is relatively easy
to read. The numbers above where it says "Gallons" are the actual
Gallons (US) of of water used. In the example below, the reading is
actually 25,625 but would be rounded off to the nearest 100 making
the reading 25,600. To track water use, simply read your meter
before watering and again after watering: subtract the start reading
from the end reading and the difference is the amount of water you
have used.

    The
10 Gallon / Revolution clock monitors water by
the gallon. One complete revolution of the red arrow
represents 10 gallons, at which point the
100 Gallon / Revolution clock
will move one digit. After 1
complete revolution of the 100 Gallon / revolution clock,
the digits above the word "GALLONS" will change accordingly.
The meter is currently reading 25,625. |
 |
You
can now see that the odometer above the word "GALLONS" has
rolled over to a 7 indicating the addition of 75
more gallons to the total. The read now would be 25,700
gallons.
Once all the digits locations on the odometer are used (ie
99,999,900) then the meter will start over at zero with a
correction factor of 100,000,000 Gallons added in the data
sheet, keeping a running total. |
